Unisys was formed by the merger of Sperry and Burroughs. Both companies were mainframe era chimps. As the mainframe market matured there businesses started to erode so the two companies merged in order to get 'scale' to compete with IBM. Unisys still exists and does sell it's own line of mainframes but only to a smaller and smaller set of it's own customers. The merger was a dramatic gesture by a couple of dying customers. That is the connection to HPaq.
