AMKR's release is very ugly, but that was expected. Their balance sheet looks lousy compared to many other semi companies. If you take current liabilities from total assets and then remove good will, you get shareholder equity of less than $1 per share. Not very pretty, imo.

That said, the company is well positioned for a rebound in the sector. Assuming that the 1st qtr 2002 was the bottom for this company, as they are appear to be saying in this release, then AMKR should start repairing the damage done to the balance sheet with their next report. I think the stock price reflects the street's strong expectations for this company. If they can keep their costs under control, they should be able to generate good numbers going forward since their revenue per share compares very favorably to most stocks in this sector.

It's hard to predict how the street will view this but I suspect that the stock might back off since it's had quite a run over the past few months. Certainly one to keep an eye on if it sells off drastically.
