I know people who refuse to consume antibiotics, but will gladly stuff down their throat any "food supplement" that comes from a bottle with a picture of a leaf and the word "natural" on it. It is useless to comment that in the first case you are consuming a compound that has undergone years of rigorous peer-reviewed testing, and in the second you aren't even sure what the ingredients are, let alone what effects they might have. Facts are not important. What matters is the picture in one's mind as one swallows the pill. I see a bit of that syndrome at work here.
