I can't help it, but I enjoy the embarrassment of the French. Their feeling of superiority must be taking a serious beating. Joe, what I can't understand is why they are so freaked out. There have been major demonstrations in every major city this past week. If they had just turned out to vote two weeks ago, they might have avoided this mess. I also wonder about the traditional Chirac supporters. They have 2 mainstream center right parties, who obviously dislike the current Social/Communist government in the parliament. Chirac's and the other center-right party voters have been voting all their lives against the Socialists/Communists. But it seems that Chirac has been hijacked into being a candidate of the Left and the media - arts and croissant crowd, as Rush Limbough(sp?) used to call them. I think every leftie knows they are voting for a conservative.......they figure its the lesser of two evils. Will they show up to vote for Chirac? I don't have a clue.........and I don't have any friends who are French that I can ask..........could never bridge that gap. <g> I am rooting for result of Chirac 51% Le Pen 49%. <g> I want Le Pen to win!!! LOL ted BTW I know you are not Catholic but I was watching some commentary tonite on the priest who got arrested today. He's the one that promoted boy/man love while he was in the priesthood. Obviously, that's sick and what makes it sicker is that he is a man of the cloth. But what I don't understand is how a priest who is supposed to believe there is a heaven and a hell...... after all they shouldn't be agostic.........could commit such a crime.........I mean why was he not worried that he might go to hell for his perversity. Do you Joe or someone else understand how he was able to deal with this in his head? Someone did say they thought he might have entered the priesthood specifically so that he would have access to children..............so maybe he was agnostic and does not believe in heaven or hell. Weird situations makes for weird questions!
