Actually, I rely on Hobbes. The right to self- defense is inalienable, because to surrender it would contradict the rationale according to which we submit to the sovereign. Self- defense includes one's person, property, and dependents. Anything which is reasonably used for self- defense, like a rifle or handgun, should be readily available. Only items like tanks that exceed the parameters of private self- defense are excludable.......
