But what are 'rights' except what our government, or whatever body has power over us, has granted? You may have the 'right' to life - but this doesn't mean you're immortal, or that you won't drown if you fall in the sea... and if you come to the UK, try exerting your right to bear a weapon and you won't even be allowed on the plane - unless, of course, you really are in an accepted militia... I'm not keen on the language of rights. Privileges, maybe. Why do I 'reasonably' need a rifle for self-defence? (Answer - I don't.) Live by the gun, die at the end of one... and for those that choose that method, I count it no loss to the world.
