Sure can tell which side of the pond you're on from that one. Privileges? Privileges, my **. In forming the US, some* powers were ceded to the central government. The remainder were retained by the states or the people. A badly mauled idea at this point, but still there. It's in our Constitution. Amendment IX. The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. Amendment X. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. We don't have a King, remember? We told yours to get his butt off the real estate.
