fyodor - What exactly is the basis of this claim? Is the reference to the current Hammer chip, or to the abandoned K8 project? (which was canned rather early in development).


Here is one of the early AMD roadmaps, published by Anand in 2000, clearly showing Sledgehammer slated for early to mid-2001 introduction.
It is an AMD slide, reproduced by Anand.
Note that the device, SLEDGEHAMMER, is clearly called out in the slide.
Now, late 2002 is at least a 1 1/2 year slip from ealry 2001 - no?
