Laugh all you want. If you knew the real issues behind the .NET strategy (thank God it failed), you'd be shaking more than laughing.
Consider what it would be like having to buy everything with MSFT as the middleman, and that middleman having as much information about you as you inadvertantly allowed them to collect. And not being able to stop them.
It was all there. Be thankful that MSFT still has SOME competition.
