I think the combination of greed and fraud over the past several years will be recognized in years to come as the downfall of this market. The reputation of U.S. financial markets was based almost exclusively on the matter of TRANSPARENCY. This has been obliterated and no amount of apologies from the ceos of brokerage firms is going to alter that. If anything, only a protracted period of time will. Pension funds and other big security holders are probably scrambling right now to identify new (non-equity) areas to invest in. This, of course, only my pathetic 2cents worth.
