Dale Laroy (or La Roy) has many times referred to his conversations with Jerry S., and gives every indication of having been an AMD employee or consultant. I would categorize him as every bit as much of an AMD insider as several of the Intel thread regulars are categorized as Intel insiders (TM, Intel Corporation).
Your general point I agree with, though, that far more folks are self-identified as former or current Intel employees than obtains for the AMD situation.
This may be just the law of averages. Intel has generated a significant number of "happily retired" multimillionaires. And its current employment level is much higher than AMD's. So just the law of averages says there are probably 10x as many potential Intel posters as AMD posters. Probably 30x as many if we look to the "happily retired" numbers.
As for ex-AMD employees, very, very few of them would have done well financially, just from the 10- or 20-year stock price history, so they're probably off at some other chip company or tech startup right now. Posting about a former employer who didn't earn them any significant money is probably not high on their list.
Which explains why the Droid threads are populated by the "little guys" who brag about how their screwdriver shop in Hannover just got in _five_ Athlon boxes! Or how they made $2000 (!) on some stock trades. Or how AMD is, like, rilly, rilly cool, dude!
