US trade policy is an hypocrisy...

I'm from the north of the border and have just been reading about this massive farm aid bill nearly unanimously passed by the Congress. This came one day after the US ITC slapped a punitive 27.5% duty on Canadian softwood lumber and one month afer similar duties on European steel imports. I hear some people in Washington want to hit Canadian wheat next. Then I watch all these politicians ranting against Canadian subsidies; stumpage fees etc. (By the way on two previous occasions, the World Trade Organization and the NAFTA trade tribunal shot down the US argument for softwood tariffs). US trade policy has no credibility as afar as I am concerned when they apply two standards..I guess they figure that since this involves food production, they can get away with it. Anyway Canadian lumber producers filed lawsuits against the US government today exceeding $700million.
