The worst areas up here for turtle road kills are in places where highways pass through areas of marsh, or where streams pass under the road through culverts which have been blocked with debris or have grates over them. In some of these places you can just about be guaranteed of seeing at least 1 or 2 dead turtles on the road. Unfortunately, the number of roads just keeps increasing each year. BTW, a nice book on turtles is David M. Carroll's, "The Year of the Turtle: A Natural History". Carroll's pen-and-ink and watercolour illustrations are just wonderful. His account of turtle observations in N.H. are excellent.
