Hey Peter, about your problem, do you have the French keyboard option enabled as an option in Keyboard Language ?, This could inadvertently be triggered on by the ALT + LEFT SHIFT combination. Go to 'Settings', 'Control Panel', 'Keyboard' (2nd TAB). Mine is enabled (on purpose). To switch it on I press ALT + LEFT SHIFT (or you can do it under the control panel) the results are then When I press the character on the left I get the corresponding one on the right.
