it's actually not that difficult to sift wheat from chaff if you keep the following in mind:

--most people who opine about everything don't know squat.

--most people who are strongly ideological and deeply self-righteous are demented.

--most people who think complex questions have simple answers are wrong.

--if an area has professionals, there is generally a reason for it; stick with professional expertise unless you have solid reasons for believing otherwise.

i.e., foreign policy isn't all that different from investing. Now if only I had had the sense to ponder such things more deeply during the bubble, then...
