The 1970's boycott was against the US. This is the opposite situation, where the west boycotts Saudi Arabia. The world is very different now. Huge oil reserves have been developed in Mexico, Russia and the North Sea since 1973. Those regions would be more than happy to take over the Saudi's role.

That statement is "trés bizarre". I have a very difficult time understanding how you could say that.
