Hi Jim,

I am not sure how good the image capture side of digital photography is going, but I am impressive with the output side. I am in the process of ordering a print for my collection and the photographer offered to do a large format test C-print. He had a production house do a print using a Laserfire technique that I could not distinguish from a negative produced print. The clarify seems a lot better too. The image did not start to distort and soften as when you do large format (20 X 24 or larger) prints. I was quite impressed. He did a color and a black and white print and even the black and white looks cripsy. You usually see more imperfections in the black and white image, but it look very clear to me.

It turned out so well that I decide not to have the negative print done. The original image was on slide film and the creation of negative was going to require that the slide by photographed. That would have create another level of distortion. It did not seem worth the effort. It is truly quite impressive what they can do on the output side.
