A question, let's use Dell as an example but it applies to any company.

Since 9/11and within a year before it seems a company's performance isn't the dominate factor in the success of a stock/company.

1.There are wild analyst's making predictions to get into the media and a name for themselves.
2. Economic swings that have always been there but media amplified dramatics.
3. Terrorist activities causing economic damage.
4. Government over reaction to those terrorist activities amplifying the financial damage as well as creating panic altered consumer spending.
5. Media takes each of these and amplifies the dramatic and damage of each.

How would Dell stock/company prosper in such a climate with factors beyond their control?

It feels like a new climate that can damage economic freedom.

The company can keep their eye on the prize but it seems much more difficult to perform and grow the company.
