Looking at the scaling factors with real number crunching software, P4 has a scaling factor of 0.60 and AXP (AMP) has a scaling factor of 1.45. A 2.4GHz NW thus has a performance of 1.44 less than a 1GHz AXP! A 1.733GHz AXP has a performance of 2.51! To get that a NW would need to get to 4.19GHz which is probably where it might be sometime at the end of 2003 or in 2004. AXP64's will probably be around 4000-5000 (4.86-6.07) by then. Intel is like a bicycle rider in 1st gear while AXP is in 10th gear. Intel pumps the pedals 35% faster but goes 57% as fast as AXP. Intel is falling further and further behind in the performance race..
