Think you have hit it on the head. It's @ the point where cold hard cash, real estate (Over the long run), TIGR's and CAT's (bought back in the 80's) will rule. There are still some real great bargains out there, but anymore,I look just for the short term. Hell, a friend of mine thinks that 5 days is LONG term! Told him that he was nuts - beginning to look like he is right (at least in this market)! Take Care, and best wishes!
