It should be noted that Intel is able to pull so far ahead with such ease. There is no competition at the high end. Makes you wonder what they are holding back for lack of pressure from AMD.

It's not anything that's a big secret. intel probably could release higer speeds, but why? 2.4GHz (2.5 tomorrow) P4 Northwood has, by most web sites, taken back the performance crown from AMD, and ASP's are relatively stable, so there is currently no need to release small, insignificant amounts of higer performance parts, or do paper launches....

UNLESS you're AMD.....

No, it's better to make sure that the "Volume" of higer speed parts is there, and the market is there to flood, before doing any major releases. Recent releases of volume high speed intel parts, from multiple vendors, seems to support that strategy.
