I will just have to warn my family to warn their families to be on the look out for solicitors of mind altering bait. They will be instructed to not allow themselves to become rats.

I will tell them that we didn't sail the seas to avoid control freaks back in the 18th century for nothing. Once we landed on the new shore we faithfully kept a lookout for them, and when we just plain had enough, we either picked up and moved on or confronted them head on. The result for my family is that we get to think and say anything we want. Lucky for me I evolved socially because my ancestors taught civility, tolerance, enterprise and prudence.

Then there is that restless independent gene that just keeps getting passed on. I suppose that someday it will cease to exist, but until then it's position next to the wary gene and the intelligent gene and the gene that recognizes rat bait when it smells it will differentiate us from the rats.
