JC, I never said I wrote the book on politeness. I've seen instances where a poster has put someone on ignore and told them so. I usually take this as an attempt by poster #1 to get some distance from poster #2. Now, if poster #2 then uses the opportunity of his/her invisibleness to poster #1 to make nasty comments, then I don't think that's very nice.
On the other hand, it seems part of accepted BR behavior to make swipes at others in posts to third parties. You do it yourself:

Speaking of "missing" -- there are no women left on the thread?
Except for Poet. (and you may have to ban me to keep her). Who chased them all away? On second thought, don't answer that.
I thought Walsh's numbers on children sounds high, too. Yet he said it before Congress, so you would think he had the facts.

You're dead. Just dead. :-)
It was me I had in mind. Sorry, but I have a huge lead as the number one chaser-awayer. I am, ahem, a pro.
All seriousness aside, we are the lesser for the women's absence, including (hypothetically) Poet.
Now, if you don't think this practice is "fair play", why do you engage in it yourself?
If you would prefer that I not refer to you in posts to others, I'll do so. But I expect the same behavior from you. |
