Identix Opens New Healthcare Market for Its Live Scan Systems

LOS GATOS, Calif., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq: IDNX), a worldwide leader in providing
fingerprint biometric authentication, security, and identification solutions,
announced today that it has extended the reach of its Live Scan systems for
applicant screening into a new healthcare market. The Company has received
orders for its Identix Live Scan TouchPrint(TM) 2000 Applicant Fingerprint
Systems (TP 2000 AFS) from six Veterans Administration Medical Centers to
facilitate the processing of background checks of potential employees.
Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital employees are Federal government
employees and are required to undergo a background check prior to employment.
Five Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in the New York area --
Bronx, Hudson Valley, NY Harbor/Brooklyn, Northport, Long Island and East
Orange/Lyons NJ -- and the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in
Portland, will each receive one TP 2000 AFS. Installation of all of the
systems is expected to take place by the end of June 2002. The U.S.
Department of Veterans Affairs operates approximately 171 medical centers and
500 Community Based Outpatient Clinics across the nation.
The TP 2000 AFS supports direct connections to state and Federal Automated
Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS) networks to permit rapid screening
of job applicants to help prevent the hiring of personnel with past criminal
records for industries such as airports, school systems, banking/financial and
securities firms and segments of the healthcare field. Identix Live Scan
systems can speed the processing of applicant background checks to days versus
the several weeks traditional ink and paper methods require.

On February 22, 2002, Identix and Visionics Corporation (Nasdaq: VSNX)
announced that they had entered into a definitive merger agreement in an

closing conditions, including approval of the companies' shareholders.
