It seems to me that the market for basic voice only 1X phones will be quite large. The main driver will be the carriers, who will benefit from the expanded network capacity (without which there would be no reason to upgrade from now very inexpensive IS-95). My guess is that Leap will be a big initial customer. A large choice of 1X phones, from any source, is a good thing. What will be interesting is how Nokia attempts to compete with QCOM chips with Snaptrack and BREW.

This would be their voice only 1900MHz model 6370... will any carrier approve NOK's 1x ASICs?
