8:30 (Dow Jones) Stocks appear unlikely to break out of their malaise Monday, especially ahead of the FOMC meeting Tuesday. There was little news over the weekend to inspire the bulls, and the futures reflect that, indicating a flat open. No news yet from Northrop and TRW on their weekend talks; the Oracle Of Omaha expanded his visions from business to international security; and the Andersen obstruction trial in Houston starts Monday. And remember, also starting today, H-P is now HPQ, not HWP, and Compaq is GONE. London and Japan closed for holidays. Cac and Dax rising; Hang Seng ended lower. Dollar slightly firmer in muted trading. Treasurys trading off after Friday's solid rally. (GS)
