All I can say is that names being obsolete is a meaningless thing. AOL bought Time Warner, but Time Warner is THE company. It isn't on anyones checks (AOL is the primary name on the checks, though each division has its name on it), and AOL remains the flagship.
However, ask anyone who works there who the "owner" or "purchaser" was. Technically, AOL bought TW. It was called a merger. Just like HWP/CPQ.
