The first is about the potential of InP for integrating optical components on a chip - 'integrated photonic circuits' - and the second is about a particular company (Infinera) pursuing this. What's so promising is that the material also makes possible the large-scale integration of components like lasers, detectors, passive waveguides, and electronics onto the same chip. Promising - there's that word again. <g> WT
