Pitney Bowes puts its stamp on the future of mailing New DM Series(TM) mailing solutions bring intelligence to mail processing TORONTO, May 6 /CNW/ - Intelligence has come to mail processing with the launch of Pitney Bowes Canada's new line of DM Series mailing solutions, the most advanced line of equipment available today. The next-generation of mailing systems, the DM Series incorporates Pitney Bowes' innovative IntelliLink(TM) Technology, which provides an electronic gateway to Pitney Bowes Canada and Canada Post Corporation, letting customers manage their mail processing with a single keystroke. IntelliLink connects DM Series systems via an electronic gateway to a host of value-added services that enhance the productivity of mail process operations. Instant online access to postal rate and software updates, postage purchase, and remote diagnostics, makes the mailing process faster and more convenient for businesses, allowing them more time to do something other than worry about the mail.
"Mail is a critical communications tool. For many businesses it plays a key role in efforts to win new customers, retain existing ones and grow business," said Richard Séguin, President, Pitney Bowes of Canada Ltd. "By electronically linking customers to value-added mailing services, our new DM Series systems help enhance productivity and therefore customers' bottom lines."
The ability to exchange information electronically through IntelliLink also opens up a world of possibilities in terms of potential services that can be offered to users in the future. "For example," said Séguin, "Pitney Bowes has worked with the U.S. Postal Service to offer services such as electronic mail delivery confirmation, while in Canada we're working with Canada Post to bring some of their services directly to customers' offices. The services we will be able to offer our customers will be limited only by their own imaginations."
The DM Series currently includes five different mailing systems, ranging from a semi-automatic unit (the DM400(TM)) capable of processing up to 90 letters per minute (lpm) to higher volume, fully automatic units (the DM800(TM) & DM900(TM)) capable of processing up to 240 lpm.
- IntelliLink(TM) Technology - advanced network technology incorporated into the DM Series devices' central control panel that connects DM Series mailing solutions with Pitney Bowes Canada and Canada Post via modem. - Weigh-On-the-Way (WOW(TM)) - technology that automates mail processing, eliminating the need to weigh pieces of mail individually. WOW allows the DM Series to apply correct postage to a variety of envelopes of different sizes and weight by simply stacking mail in the feeder and pressing go (available on DM 800 and 900). - Mixed envelope feeding - lets customers process batches of mail with mixed size up to 13"x15" (33 x 38 cm) and/or thickness up to 3/4" (1.9 cm), with no separating or sorting required (DM 900). - Canada Post compliant - conditionally meets Canada Post's new standards for mailing systems in terms of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) encryption technology, data capture and new indicia design security features, pending a software upgrade.
One of the key differences between the new DM Series and previous offerings is the incorporation of a postal security device to create a redesigned indicia. Together, these are used to verify the authenticity of the mail piece and postage. This will also allow for potential electronic tracking and delivery confirmation in the future. For the launch of the DM Series, Pitney Bowes conducted extensive customer research to develop a line of products that not only provide customers with the functionality they desire, but exceed their expectations on every level.
"With the Pitney Bowes DM Series, mailing solutions are taking a step into the future," said Gail Reed, Product Manager, Mail Finishing, Pitney Bowes Canada. "The DM Series is, quite simply, smarter than your average mailing system. In fact, it is the most advanced line of equipment available on the market today."
