Fed holds rates at 40-year lows as expected By Rachel Koning
The Federal Reserve left interest rates at 40-year lows Tuesday. The central bank said
the risks in the economy remain balanced between further weakness and inflation. The
fed funds target stands at 1.75 percent, put in place last December. The vote for steady
policy was unanimous. Members said the outlook for the U.S. expansion is still
uncertain.
