Wireless network computer introduced by HDS Network Systems

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 1996-- HDS Network Systems Inc today announced a wireless
version of its Network Computer, providing users with a turnkey solution for environments where conventional network
connections are expensive or difficult to wire.

The new HDS wireless @workStation(TM) is shipped with the FreePort(R) wireless Ethernet LAN system from Windata(R)
Inc., which is designed to provide the same performance, reliability and security as wired Ethernet LANs.

"We provide a no-compromise Network Computer by offering customers the flexibility to tie into existing networks with either
conventional or wireless network interfaces, so they can continue to use their existing applications," said HDS Executive Vice
President Michael Kantrowitz. "Our @workStation Network Computers offer the best alternative to a PC for Internet,
Windows(R) and legacy applications, and with wireless connections we've expanded the market for our products."

An HDS @workStation equipped with FreePort allows workers in a factory, for example, to quickly and easily reconfigure
the shop floor without worrying about rewiring network connections. It is also suitable for warehouses, where a user can easily
bring the HDS @workStation along on a cart while taking inventory.

The wireless @workStation supports industry networking standards, including IEEE 802.3 and SNMP network management,
and can run any existing PC, UNIX(R) and mainframe applications, as well as browse the Web and run Java(TM) applets.
Utilizing spread spectrum radio signals, the wireless NC can roam 260 feet from its Windata hub and antenna, which is wired
to the network. A single FreePort LAN can support 256 users.

"The HDS @workStation is a perfect Network Computer platform for our wireless LAN technology since both help
customers get the most out of their existing networks," said Windata Vice President David Micciche. "The FreePort products
are designed to augment wired networks, extending their reach to locations that are difficult to wire."

The HDS @workStation line of Network Computers, which start at $750, enable users to access any type and form of data
on any network, including the Internet, with Java and Web browsing features integrated in its HDS netOS operating system. In
addition to its networking functions, the systems offer full multimedia and videoconferencing capabilities. The wireless
@workStation is available immediately from HDS with a starting price of $2,600.

Windata, of Littleton, MA, is the performance leader of high-speed, highly reliable, standards based, wireless Ethernet
networking systems. Windata products use a robust implementation of license free spread spectrum radio technology to
provide customers with the performance, reliability, and security of a wired Ethernet, in a wireless solution. Windata provides
both in-building and building-to-building wireless solutions, enabling customers to provide network connectivity in areas where
cable is an ineffective alternative due to environmental, deployment time, or flexibility considerations. (Telephone:
