It's a very good and positive thing imho that México and Canada have engaged through the years in a policy of constructive engagement with cubanos, far more useful than that of the US who are stuck in 1961 along with that crafty old pendejo Fidel .... but i'd like to hear them speak up when appropriate, as well ... it's human nature to listen a little harder to your friends than to your enemies, this puts the friend in a position of responsibility ... i didn't hear much about the Monterrey conference, but here's a cubano issue on which i've been hearing a lot lately - internet access, and Castro's blocking of it ... couple of articles - news.bbc.co.uk news.bbc.co.uk
This is insane, criminal ... one of my favourite dance partners here in BC is from near Santa Clara, why cannot she talk to her mother via email, because that old stalinist prick her mother has for a jailer won't let her, that's why ... a few years ago my wife and i were local guides here for a cubano dance group, struck up a couple of friendships among them, one member gave me an email address that was supposed to slip through, but after the first reply there was nothing came back, the account got blocked, i presume .... nothing pisses me off more about that silly egotistic old fart, the basic human right to freedom of expression is the most fundamental, the most innate, and he is violating it daily, against eleven millions souls
María Felix - i'm sorry to hear that ..... a cousin knew Agustín Lara many years ago, and by pure coincidence later he had considerable to do with the making of marimbas near Comitán [Lara composed much music for marimba, which is the traditional instrument of Chiapas] ..... all gone now, Dolores del Río, Pedro Infante, so many others
Thanks for keeping up the thread, C ... i'm out of touch with down south, can hardly stay level with what's around us here in BC ..... but that above is real important, to get on Castro's case on the free speech question, eh ... cheers |
