I think it is reprehensible that a single mother with two teens who is working two jobs to make ends meet paid more income taxes than Enron the corporation did for four of the past five years.

Why?

If they where losing money, then they had no profits to pay taxes on. If they where making money, well the owners of the company, the shareholders, pay taxes on dividends or capital gains. In the end the company fell apart because it was producing losses not profits, a better example for your argument might be some profitable company which is avoiding taxes. If the corporate tax rate was zero, the money still has to be given to shareholders, or reinvested in the company. If it is given to shareholders as a dividend then they pay taxes on it. If it is invested profitably then the shares should go up in value, they will eventually be sold and capital gains tax paid, and in the mean time the company is growing and creating jobs.
