You're absolutely wrong. The officers of the company did, indeed, rack up enormous fortunes. Ex-CFO Andrew Fastow, for instance, earned $30 million in fees for managing the partnerships that helped keep Enron assets off-shore and off-limits to inquiring minds.

Thats peanuts compared to the amount of money that was flowing through Enron. If Enron was a real pyramid scheme it was a very inefficent one. Not all of the officers of the company did so well. I understand some of them are in finacial trouble now (not that I have much sympathy for them). Regular senior officers of large companies that become loved by the stock market during bubles make millions of dollars. Fastow might have been overcompensated but lots of other CEOs and CFOs are as well. There may have even been some totally illegal siphoning off of assets but your only talking about millions of dollars. If the whole company was run as a pyramid scheme like you suggest the senior officers would have become billionaires.
