Wafer supplier MEMC reports 13.5% sequential growth in Q1, cuts losses Semiconductor Business News (05/07/02 18:01 p.m. EST) siliconstrategies.com ST. PETERS, Mo.--Silicon Wafer supplier MEMC ElectronicMaterials Inc. today reported a 13.5% sequential increase in net sales to $136.7 million in the first quarter compared to $120.4 million in Q4 of 2001. The company said its sequential increase was a result of "significant increase in product volumes, especially in Europe and the U.S." MEMC posted an operating loss of $2.6 million in the first quarter of 2002 before restructuring charges of $2.2 million, compared to an operating loss of $61.4 million, excluding the $10.0 million restructuring costs recorded in the last quarter of 2001.
