Sector Watch: Brokers : After an initial delay, trading has resumed for GS (+4.2%), MWD (+5.0%), MER (+4.4%), LEH (+5.8%); stocks are no doubt boosted by a Wall Street Journal story this morning that reported that MER and NY AG Eliot Spitzer have arrived at a "framework" for a possible deal that could soon settle an investigation into the firm's stock-research practices and prevent the AG from seeking civil or possible criminal charges.
