NAQ Company background
North American Qutoations, Inc. is a privately held Canadian company, founded in 1982 whose sole business is to provide real-time quotation services to the investment community.
NAQ's datafeed carries real-time quotations from all NA Stock and Commodity Exchanges. Data is distributed by satellite and private line data channels.
The business community has embraced TCP/IP as the standard protocol for their corporate networks and ITrader is our first step in reponding to this need.
NAQ partnered with Papyrus Technology, Inc. to develop the ITrader applications. Papyrus will continue to provide and support a free delayed version of ITrader.
NAQ will provide and support the real-time version of ITrader, which by the way will be renamed RT Trader when it is launched, hopefully on August 1.
Papyrus Technology is a software development company, with extensive experience in developing real-time investment applications. Earlier this year, Ernst & Young purchased controlling interest in Papyrus.
All querries regarding the real-time RT Trader must be directed to NAQ. This includes any problems, enhancement requests, subscription, etc. Papryus will not provide any direct support to subscribers. NAQ will do this.
For delayed ITrader users, your only contact with Papyrus is by e-mail to itrader@papyrus.com. As they are providing this service free of charge, their only responsibility is to ensure that the service is running and updating ITrader with bug fixes as they become known.
As you may appreciate, there is a lot of software involved in providing a streaming, Internet quotation service. We are still debugging some portions of the service. We believe that the software is behaving well for the most part and will offer it to the public as soon as we complete the installation of our servers at NAQ's location. Any further fixes will be forthcoming, but the main function, that is providing quotes is functioning well.
One caution that I have expressed before, is that although NAQ can control the operation of its servers and verifying that users are being updated, we cannot control what happens within the Internet. NAQ's T1 pipe (and we'll add more as needed) to the Internet should be dramatically superior to our current BETA setup through Netcom in San Francisco. Although, if your end of any connection experiences any congestion, it will impact the overall performance that users will see individually.
NAQ's Future Plans?
Add Commodity Futures and Future Options Improve on the news quantity and maybe quality. Expand the quality of information on Company fundamentals (Profile) Offer an Intranet/Extranet solution for serious traders who want uninterrupted delivey of quotes.
Many of you have submitted suggestions and reported varous flaws. We are looking at these and the serious ones will be addressed immediately. Some of the other ones will take a little longer.
We're serious about putting out a professonal package. We could wait for another couple of months before releasing the service, however, we feel that the main features of the service is functioning properly and should be made available to those who understand its current limitations.
