1. They came for the most part from other areas of the Arab world.
2. They settled in temporary camps on the West Bank.
3. They had a burning goal to drive out the established residents of the coastal region of Israel, and take their lands.

You made it too easy. That is the Hittites. Wait a minute, you could say it was the Scythians. Wait a minute, you could say it was the Egyptians. Wait a minute, the Samaritans did that. Hold it, hold it, the Greeks (Phillistines) were there too. What about the Aryan invasion? (Afghanians and Pakistani?) Then the Ptolemaic Greeks. (Cleopatra et al) And I would say the Romans qualify. Just a sec, what about the Chaldeans? Say, the Samarians (Russian Amazons) held sway there, the Babylonians, the Sumerians, the Aramayics. The Turks have historic claim.

It's a contested area. We can safely say the Palestinian Arabs and the Lebanese (Phoenicians) are out of the running. Recent upstarts. They have only been there for 3500 or so years.
