Washington DC murder rate is 600% higher than Illinois's. This, according to statistics compiled by Handgun Control Inc. disastercenter.com The murder rate in DC is nearly 42 per 100,000 population despite some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. in the year 2000 Illinois had 7.2 Murders per 100,000 people, ranking the state as having the 8th highest rate for Murder.
