PRI Sells Reticle System to Taiwanese Memory Chipmaker Online staff -- Electronic News, 5/8/2002 e-insite.net PRI Automation Inc. today said it has sold one of its Guardian Bare Reticle Stocker systems to Taiwanese memory chipmaker Powerchip Semiconductor. The order represents the Billerica, Mass., company’s first bare reticle management system in Taiwan. The Guardian system is part of an expanding suite of PRI lithography automation products from PRI. It will be used to eliminate bottlenecks and improve productivity in the lithography bay of Powerchip’s new 300mm fab. The Guardian system allows chipmakers to store reticles in one-fifth the footprint required by other systems, according to PRI. It can also save customers $500,000 or more in carrier costs by storing the reticles bare in a specially designed, ultra-clean chamber that provides total reticle isolation while still offering a 40 percent reduction in cycle time for reticle storage and retrieval, the company said. When used with PRI’s reticle management software, the Guardian can significantly increase the productivity of the lithography bay, according to PRI.
