Yes, we do have fireflies.

Closer to the southern end of our continent, in South Texas, we had a branch of the firefly family that we called lightning bugs. We also had lady bugs (beetles). And one of the more memorable names in my school days was a popular girl named June Bug.

Speaking of beetles, did you know that the "inspiration" for the fab four's name, the Beatles, came from Buddy Holly's musical group, the Crickets?
