If you want to play the What If game - what if the klepto-cult of the Manifest Destiny pushers had not had the power to further their grab for more land on which to work their negro slaves, and instead the US had acted as neighbour and friend to México when the latter was emulating their break from the european crown, and not exploited that period of vulnerability as opportunity to rob and slaughter, and not hovered over the mexicanos right through the porfiriato looking for something to take? ... would then this continent have been more productive, more peaceful, a better example for the less lucky of our species who live on the others?
