Flapjack...have a question for you. Several years ago, several flooring companies went laid off thousands, went bankrupt, because of manufacturing flooring with asbestos. The insurance companies and the companies themselves put hundreds of millions into settlements. The trial lawyers had a wonderful and profitable time, trouncing those 'bad' companies.
Now, turns out, I find that 90% of homes with vinyl floor covering made before 1980 will most likely have asbestos in that floor. Today, many of those homes need to have new floors installed, and many many more will need new flooring within the next 20 years.
The insurance companies don't pay for new floors. If there is asbestos in the flooring, the Hasmat people have to come out, and the cost is between $10-25,000 for an average kitchen floor to be torn out. THEN the new flooring has to be installed, at whatever the going rate is.....another several thousand dollars.
Question: WHERE did ALL the MILLIONS of dollars go from the asbestos settlements????? What on earth are all the "hard working American families" going to do when this problem raises its ugly head????
Question: HOW much of ALL the MILLIONS of dollars gathered from the companies and the insurance companies went directly into the pockets of the RICH trial lawyers?????
Question: Aren't the trial lawyers either the 1st or are they the 2nd largest contributing fund raisers for the Democrat party????? |
