All one would have to do is witness the life he lived to see the foolishness of such an existence. He left all that he had in order to find this state of "nirvana". Please. In his search for the meaning of life he left behind the key ingredients.

I have no idea why you would say this , JK , for all the ingredients that were of the clearest direction of Jesus were followed and embarked upon by Siddhartha . He walked the walk so to speak , that path known as the razors edge .

In the life he led from giving up all the riches and wealth he was born and inherited, to following a path of extreme self denial and carrying his own cross. And after much pain and self deprivation , he emerges with a Gospel of peace , charity , and compassion for the poor and wretched , as well as confronting the rigid Brahmin Priests that were as the same counter-part antagonists that Jesus also had to fight against , who ultimately crucified him
with bribery and treachery .

Buddha's teaching was for the liberation of all , reagrdless of the caste one was born into , it was a universal teaching dealing with the nature of the world as it is reflected and catches us up in it's torrents within ourself's illusion and imballances . But he went against the priests of his day and taught all equally his gospel of enlightenement, and met ll threats from those priests & conquered them by his persuasion , clarity of thought , enlightenment , and unusually profound wisdom .

It was a good teaching , not so unlike that of Jesus . As for the wife and unborn child , I'm not sure I follow you in this as the most important ingredients he left behind .
The entire race of human beings on the earth were his
family , even extending into the
animal realm as well.

And so he instructed his disciples to go forth to all the corners of the world and teach the new Dharma . Those techings were known and spread as far as Sri Lanka to the south , Persia and Greece to the east, South-Asia/China to the north and east . But spreading those teachings without the sword !

And what makes us more interesting as a species that seeks to understand ourselves , that we should all take some joy in the unique lives of all the great teachers in our collective history ...and Jesus, ofcourse too.

I think it can be forgiven of Siddartha , if he lived 500yrs before Jesus , 1/2 a world a away and took it upon himself to carry his own cross and become his own Christ and Annointed One .

And I think God was very well pleased with his Indian Son
for I never knew that God made some rule that only sons of Gods were to be from the Middle East . ...and i didn't see
any thunderbolts or plagues befall him !

He lived to be almost 80yrs ...

;-)
