Re: "Perhaps you should settle this issue with yourself first." That's a valid observation.

The dictionary gives these definitions for "liberty":

1. The condition of being not subject to restriction or control.

2. The right to act in a manner of one's own choosing.

3. The state of not being in confinement or servitude.

4. Permission to do a specific thing: privilege.

Conservatives would probably define "liberty" as No. 1 or 2 above, whereas my view of "liberty" was more closely tied to No. 3.

What I was trying to convey to DMA was that instead of worrying about abstracts, start worrying about actual rip-offs more, because when an S&L goes under and your life savings are in that S&L, that's a loss of liberty.
