I saw things on a much simpler level.

The Genome hopes and hype inflated Biotechs in a similar fashion that Internet hopes and hype inflated high tech.

With the realization that the Human Genome work won't immediately lead to hundreds of blockbuster, miracle cures, that bubble has been burst. Several babies with outstanding pipelines and imminent revenue increases have been thrown out with the bath water. Several of these have been discussed by others on this thread.
