You're making the same mistake many others do in applying American political definitions to all governments. Think of the terms conservative and liberal.....a conservative is a hard line believer in the system in place in his respective government, ie in the US a conservative is one who resists change in the capitalist form of government and a liberal is one who favors more change. A left winger is described as a liberal in the US while a right winger is a conservative. In a socialist or communist country, on the other hand, a conservative or right winger is a hardline communist who resists change to communist doctrine while a liberal or progressive is one seeking to make changes that relax the system.
