Engineers always need lots of breakdown statistics, so I'll try to make you happy, George.
Let's see, about half the eligible voters cast a presidential ballot in November '00. Gore got roughly half the vote plus 500,000. Bush got roughly half the vote minus 500,000.
So right there we have established that the "Republican" position is in a minority in this country, and that the votes of roughly 24 percent of the eligible voters in this country elected GWB president.
Of that 24 percent, we could probably classify a third "moderate" Republicans, a third "right-wing" Republicans and another third "very right-wing Republicans." Eight percent for each.
(Are you with me so far? Good.)
Since Scalia, Thomas and Rehnquist represent the extreme right of the "very right wing," I was overly generous to assign them the 4 percent figure. As I said previously, their views may actually coincide with only about 1 percent of the people in this country. People like Prolife, for instance. (Nut cases like CyberKenny are even farther to the right of Scalia-Thomas-Rehnquist.)
So now it's your turn to yank something out of your prostate-gland area. |
