Why don't you put your hand on an encyclopedia and look under, for instance "Pogroms", that is a "middle of the way" to start and learn what Jews were fleeing from in Russia. Then, look under "Inquisition" you might learn why they had to flee from Christianity, if you need more "samples" I can provide these as well. By the way, Jews are not the only oppressed minority that had been fleeing for the last 2000 or so years from murderous xenophobic thugs, many other minorities suffered similar fates, like the Armenians, the Gypsies, the Kurds, the Tibetians, the Turkish Greeks, the Sikhs, the Circasians, the list goes on, and that is the short list mostly from the last century. The Jews are probably unique in that they have survived these persecutions without being extinct for the last 2000 years. They are a stubborn nation, even the early Egyptians recognized that, the more you oppress them, the more they find ways to survive. Something to do with a unique moral code (they then gave as a gift to the rest of humanity) they got somewhere in the desert some 3000 years ago (g).
