What difference does it make that they are Third World countries anyway? Aren't there only one type of people in the world - do you think Third-Worlders are a lesser breed?

Turkey and SA could be called "American colonies" at least as validly as Israel.

Turkey is a member of NATO. Re. US aid to Turkey, I found the following link which quotes $13B up through 1987. Likely much higher by now - I noticed another link saying Clinton offered Turkey $1B in 1999.

Between 1946 and 1987, military and economic assistance has totaled over $13 billion to Turkey and $9 billion to Greece. From these amounts, $9 billion to Turkey and $5 billion to Greece have accounted for military aid and the rest has been economic assistance.

We actually fought a war to protect SA. Below is a link on Gulf War costs.
cnn.com
First: U.S. casualties: 148 battle deaths, 145 nonbattle deaths
Second:The U.S. Department of Defense has estimated the cost of the Gulf War at $61 billion; however, other sources say that number could be as high as $71 billion. The operation was financed by more than $53 billion pledged by countries around the world, most of which came from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf States ($36 billion) and Germany and Japan ($16 billion).

This doesn't cost the continuing costs of maintaining US forces in the region which I'm sure run to billions of dollars per year, perhaps tens of billions.
